Using the Engagement View

The Engagement View provides a way for you to organize and quickly access all the workpapers, reports, leadsheets, and Knowledge Coach forms for an engagement in one location. You can also view status information for workpapers and Knowledge Coach forms, such as whether they have been signed off, are locked, or have notes associated with them. If the file is already in use by another user, this information is visible as well.

  • The Engagement View opens automatically when you open an engagement that already has a trial balance uploaded. You can access it from any other page in an engagement by clicking on the navigation bar and selecting Engagement View.
  • For consolidated engagements, click Engagement View on the Subsidiary Setup page or click on the navigation bar and select Engagement View.

The Engagement View has the following three nodes for the Tax and Attest modules:

  1. Unfiled Workpapers - stores uploaded workpapers

  2. Unfiled Reports - stores links to the trial balance, tax summary report, and financial statements

  3. Unfiled Leadsheets - stores links to the auto-generated lead sheet

The Engagement View has the following node for the Knowledge Coach module:

  1. Unfiled Knowledge Coach Forms – stores Knowledge Coach forms

With consolidated engagements, sub-nodes appear under Unfiled Reports and Unfiled Leadsheets for each entity – the consolidated entity and each subsidiary entity. This makes it easier for you to find the reports and leadsheets by entity and drag and drop them to the desired folder or sub-folder.

The Nodes and Sub-Nodes cannot be deleted or modified.

You can add folder and sub-folders to organize the workpapers, reports, lead sheets, and Knowledge Coach forms. Simply drag and drop the content from the unfiled nodes to the appropriate folder. You can also drag content from one folder to another folder. Items within a node or folder are sorted by index, then by name.

Clicking the index or name of:

  • A report or leadsheet opens the page for that item.

  • A Microsoft® Excel® or Microsoft® Word workpaper opens the file for editing or viewing if you have installed Workpaper Monitor; otherwise, these workpapers and all other types of workpapers are downloaded to the local Downloads folder.

  • A dynamic Knowledge Coach form opens the page in a new browser tab for that item.

  • A static Knowledge Coach form downloads the file to the local Downloads folder.

Click a folder or node on the left side to view the contents of the folder or node on the right side. Once the content is on the right side, you can drag and drop, add sub-folders, change the folder properties and perform other actions on the workpapers and reports (i.e. sign off, lock, etc.)

To remove the folder or node from the right side, click on that folder or node on the left side to unselect it.
